CADBORO BAY ADULT CHOIR

Christine leads this energized community of singers and musicians in spirited weekly rehearsals preparing for Sunday services and special events. We are a non-auditioned choir where all levels of experience are appreciated and encouraged. Drop-in weekly, commit to a season, or sing with us throughout the year – you will find your voice and friendship embraced by all. We also welcome dancers, instrumentalists and drummers to collaborate on unique aspects in services.

SINGLES AND DOUBLES AND IN-BETWEENS
A new group that enables community building and the deepening of relationships through some shared experiences that are adult focused.
Oct. 1st, 2011 – Barn Dance –Remember those dances of your youth? Well it’s time for a whole new generation to learn some of the delights of the basics of dancing to a live band. Whether you’ve done it before, have two left feet or never thought you’d find yourself dancing, join others for the potluck supper, starting at 5:30 and a “called” dance evening. It promises to be as good a time as last year, if not better!!
Dec. 16th, 2011 – Handel’s Messiah – Join us, at 6:30 p.m.at CBUC prior to the 8:00 p.m. concert at the UVIC Farquhar auditorium for a bit of biblical and musical background to this Christmas tradition performed annually by the Victoria Symphony. Share a glass of wine/ cup of tea with others as you deepen your experience of the concert AND have a chance to practice the Hallelujah chorus that the audience will be invited to share in. May 6th, 2012 – Beethoven’s 9th Symphony – Following worship & a light lunch – background to what some describe as Beethoven’s greatest symphony of all times. Excerpts from the last movement have formed hymns in many languages. MEN’S MINISTRY
Our ministry to men has involved a number of groups over the past years but is now undergoing some discernment as to what form might best meet the needs of a variety of generations. Discussions and surveys are underway and ideas are welcomed. Watch the newsletter for details of new emerging opportunities for men.
BANFF MEN’S CONFERENCE
Time: Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 – Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011. Place: Banff Springs Hotel.
Registration fee: $110.00 plus accommodation, travel and meals.
Building upon 55 years of serving men, the 2011 conference will be an experiment in community building, storytelling, and listening. SINGLE PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP

We are a group of single parents who meet to share stories of the complexities of single parenting and what we are learning along the way. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT

Afternoon Friends is a Women’s Group that meets each month. We occasionally have guest speakers who inform us about volunteer groups in the city and abroad. At each meeting we contribute “tea money” which is donated to local charities. There is warmth and friendship in our group and we invite any women to join us.
BOOK CLUBS
There are a number of book clubs that meet monthly. Each year different books are chosen and read by the members and then discussed by the groups, these groups are open to everyone.
